Updated: Mar 24, 2022

March 12th, 2022.

On March 12th, 2022, the Feast of Great Martyr Theodore Tyro and Venerable Procopius the Confessor of Decapolis, our found Father Silouan Brown, was ordained to the priesthood in the Holy Orthodox Church by the hand of Metropolitan Jonah Paffhausen and with the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion of New York, First-Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

Great are the accomplishments of faith, / for the Holy Martyr Theodore rejoiced in the fount of flames as though at the waters of rest;1 / for having been made a whole burnt offering in the fire / , he was offered as a sweet bread to the Trinity. / By his entreaties, O Christ God, save our souls!

Father Silouan was ordained to the Holy Priesthood at Saint Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church in Stafford, Virginia, where Metropolitan Jonah is currently the parish rector. The ordination of Father Silouan marks a special event in the life of Orthodox Africa because it comes on the eve of Father Silouan permanently moving to the Republic of Uganda, where he has begun the process of establishing the African continental headquarters of Orthodox Africa located in Kampala, Uganda, at the St. John of Shanghai Orthodox Christian Mission Center.
