For the most fortunate among us, our childhoods offered us the happiest of memories. Family, friends, traditions, and the love and laughter they provided us are a common thread connecting us. No matter where we grew up, the time passed building memories as we looked forward and dreamed of our futures. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” was a question we asked of one another, and of ourselves.  For the lucky ones, it was a time when we truly believed we could be whatever we wanted to be.

For the children at St. Barnabas Orphanage, it is no different. Just as you and I growing up here in America, these children feel a pull towards fulfilling their purpose in life. Perhaps these seeds of hope have been planted in their hearts for a reason, their talent given in order to pursue their interests in life. They pray for a better future.

Help us come together to ensure they can grow up with the happiest of memories, and brightest of futures. Let them be encouraged in the belief that they can grow up to fulfill their God-given purposes as they feel called to do. By coming together in our financial support to the orphanage, we send a message to the children – we believe in you.

If you can find it in yourself to donate towards this ambition, you can do so by contributing through  Orthodox Africa Donate Now page or click here.  The completion of the well will be a huge milestone toward ensuring the stability of these children lives in the direction of their dreams.

The greatest of these days was a Bright Week miracle!

Property was purchased several months ago.  The children cannot be moved to the new property until water is available.  By God’s mercy, sufficient funds were received to move ahead with drilling for water. Everyone held their breath as drilling commenced, praying that God would allow water to be found.  Watch this three-minute video, holding your breath as we did, praying and hoping.

At 256 meters (280 yards) depth – WATER!!  Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

To access the water, a pump, pipes, electricity and water tower are needed.

Saint Barnabas Orphanage and School moves ever closer to their goals of a permanent place to live with access to fresh water and the ability to care for more children “enable these needy children to become responsible and fulfilled Kenyan citizens in the future with dignified lives.”

Your support, both spiritual – through your holy prayers, and financial – through your donations, is what has gotten Saint Barnabas to this point.  God willing, when the well is built, the children will receive more than clean water. They will have a renewed understanding that they are not alone. That their struggles, and their dreams – are heard even from miles away. They will understand that they are believed in.
